KAWOOSH

When the stargate activates, a wave of energy erupts from its center. This initial unstable vortex of a forming wormhole stabilizes to form a water-like effect that is the event horizon of the quantum particles that form the wormhole. The phenomenon came to be known at the SGC as the "kawoosh."
